I have been very pleased with this comforter. We live in Washington, DC and this comforter has ably handled the coldest nights (~15 degrees F) with the thermostat set to ~65. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right. No leakage and I saw no need to get a cover for it either. Great value!!

I ordered this comforter to replace a similar one made by “Royal Velvet” sold on Amazon. The Royal Velvet had similar specs (300 thread count, 550 fill), but it leaked down, leaving feathers all over my apartment. I’m happy to say the Appalachian does not leak down at all. Very happy about that. It doesn’t seem to have quite as much down as the Royal Velvet, which is fine with me, since I live on the West Coast and wanted a year-round comforter (rarely above 60 or below 40 in my bedroom). As several reviewers have mentioned, this comforter’s packaging says its made by Charter Club (Macy’s house brand), which is not indicated by Amazon. Not sure why. Also, the packaging indicates that the comforter is machine washable, while the label on the comforter says “dry clean only.” Not sure what to make of that. If I’d paid full retail, I’d probably complain about that or want more details, but the $69 cost with no tax and free shipping is barely more than the tax would have been on this item if paid full retail.

Not what I expected. This comforter is NOT micro suede, although it is soft — I believe the material is actually just polyester or cotton. The comforter is pretty flimsy, and the backing is very thin gold silk. I am afraid to wash it, even though it is washable, hence it either rips open or the cotton inside it bunches together and it becomes lumpy like the last comforter I ordered from Amazon. The pillows are nice though, but the comforter definitely could have been better quality, even for $60. If I could do it over again I would but one from a store where I could see and feel the quality of the fabric.
